About Kerrie Jean

Welcome to my blog!
Welcome to my world – hope you’ll come on in….
My philosophy is simultaneously breathtaking and simple:
We are on this earth for but a moment but let’s make ‘our’ moment shine….
See it as a Cracker Night sparkler.
Celebrate your back, neck and head pains, your joys, your humiliations, your wrinkles, your mysterious erotic urges, your bizarre families and colleagues….
Most of all, never shout ‘Catastrophe!’ because that will only serve to scare the horses and no one wants that, do they?
A little bit about who you’re dealing with……
I am a spinster-by-choice and I continue to grapple with my sex/life balance.
A proud alumni of Leeton High School – a centre of education excellence in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area of New South Wales - my special interests are in how people go about their daily business, water reticulation, regional aviation and botox.
As the youngest of five lovely girls born to Hec and Gwennie, I know how hard it can be to get a word in edge wise. To be given this opportunity to get a neat 500 words in on a regular basis is indeed a great privilege.
To say that politics remains one of my great passions would be an understatement.
Always a keen commentator, I was the first to predict that Kevin Rudd would be hospitalised for a ‘nervy’ before June, 2009.
What I meant to say was:
‘Kerrie Jean is the first to predict that a deposed and very cranky Kevin Rudd will be hospitalised for a gall bladder attack before the Federal Election 2010…’
See. Just like you, I sometimes get things wrong….
But, I’ll never stop trying to contribute to my block of flats, my main street, my bus route into the city, my place of work, Australia and the whole of the Pacific Rim.
A word on my stories about Leeton, the town that made – or unmade me – depending on when you’re talking about and who you’re talking to.
Goddammit, we all come from somewhere…
So feel free to see Leeton as Metaphoric Device – big (Genesis!) or small (a trip to the corner shop…)
Before I go, make NO mistake…..

Note from management:
ABC Radio National has always prided itself on being ‘on top’ of the latest ideas in politics, the arts, philosophy, science and popular culture.
And Kerrie Jean fits snugly into our brief!
We are proud to host her thoughts – and on-the-ground reports – about life in a frantically paced Third Millennium.
Kerrie Jean is also prone to bouts of nostalgia and we welcome her memories of a country (town) childhood.
Even then, it was clear that ideas would play an important role in her life.
Please help Kerrie Jean make a success of something by posting your thoughts early and often.
We are anxious to find useful, dignified work for her in the great institution that is Your ABC.
